An Update from the Kira Council

The Kira Council has had a busy year as our ranks have burst to a record number of twelve council members!

We are Corrina (Chairperson), Alex, Louise, Pia, Jenni, Ashley, Matt, Carol, James, Mitchell and Julie. As a group, we come up with the ideas for fundraisers and then organise everything.

Sharon and Kim helped us to organise a number of events and activities over the year, in which we raised $123.50. The fundraisers were for the purchase of new percussion items.

In March, we held a fundraiser where people bought tickets to guess the number of lollies in a jar. Matt purchased the lollies and counted the lollies (there were 192!). This fun activity involved everyone from the Council to staff, and raised $36.50.

In May, we celebrated Mothers Day by holding a fundraiser to win a hamper, raising $87. Everyone donated items and several people helped to wrap the hampers.

Jenni volunteered her time to produce flyers for the fundraisers, and Louise distributed the flyers and facilitated the lolly jar fundraiser at Music and Dance. Jenni also created a flyer requesting members bring in magazines and books for the centre, and Pia and Louise handed out the flyers to members.

Corrina facilitated the clean-up of the centre’s lost and found clothing cupboard.
